I am a graduating student from the Glasgow School of Art and University of Glasgow, with a First Class in MEng Product Design Engineering. I have been on the Engineering Excellence List for the University of Glasgow for all five years of my degree: an award recognising outstanding exam results in the College of Engineering. I have also acted as class representative for my year group in both fourth and fifth year.
Since 2018, I have worked part-time as a junior designer for Felt Design alongside my degree, assisting with design projects involving product packaging, website design and printed literature. I have also assisted the creative director on photoshoots, acting as a stylist. In addition to design work, I have observed and attended meetings which has given me a good insight into the client-designer relationship.
From August 2017 to January 2018, I worked for Italian restaurant Celino’s Partick as a Deli Assistant. My job required a friendly, approachable attitude and the ability to work as part of a team to manage a large flow of people, whilst individually meeting customers’ needs. I learned how to cope under pressure and the importance of maintaining a good relationship with customers.
In the summer of 2016, I enjoyed a short internship with graphic design company Eighth Day. Whilst developing my creative graphic skills in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, I assisted the Creative Director in the development of identities for various clients.
During my time at school, I was awarded ‘Commended’ in the Paolozzi Prize for Art, organised by City of Edinburgh Council in partnership with National Gallery of Scotland in 2016 whilst studying A-level Art at school.
I have experience in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, and I am highly familiar with CAD softwares Solidworks and Autodesk Fusion 360, frequently using these in my studies. I also have experience in Abaqus CAE and CES Edupack.
I am a hard-working individual with an appreciation for simplicity and efficiency. I love to cook, especially for my family and friends.
My plan for the future involves settling in Tokyo - I am drawn to the design scene whose ideals closely match my own. I took an extra-curricular class in basic Japanese in my second year at university, and am hoping to continue in the future.
My final GPA is 20.0 / 22.
My latest exam results are as shown below:
Advanced Manufacture / A1
